Woke up this morning a bit after 08:00. Showered and ate Joyce's pancakes for breakfast with butter and real maple syrup. Not bad! Allison and Terry arrived while some of the others were still eating. Laurel and Erick arrived soon after. There was much veging and chatting (very chatty household!).
Laurel and I went to the mall to get some cards and I got a gift for Allison and Terry - the Beatles Revolver CD - the only one they needed for the full set. When we got back they opened their wedding gifts. Lots of dinnerware stuff.
Then we had lunch. Leftover meatballs and chicken wings from the reception, nuked in the microwave. The wings were really good! Then I packed my bag and we loaded up stuff in Laurel's car for the trip south. We drove off about 15:30, heading through the rain showers down the eastern side of Oakland to San Jose. We got here just before 17:00, and I unloaded and approached the door.
As I stepped up to the threshold a voice greeted me with, "Hello, Danger Mouse!" I answered, "Hello, Katy!" and she opened the door for me. Colleen came out to welcome me in, in time for Katy [Colleen's young daughter] to commandeer me for a couple of games! She made me sign an autograph book for her, then we played Trouble and the Game of Life.
Finally I got to go downstairs again and meet Colleen properly. Randolph (Fritz) wandered in and said hi. He left soon after, as I made ready for Colleen's great lasagne dinner. The salad was really hoopy, with dandelion leaves and nasturtium flowers in it. Very colourful. And one of the best salads I've ever tasted too. Oh, I also got to meet Emerald (a.k.a. Emmy-monster). 14 months and very cute. Katy is also way cute, and kinda precocious. But lots of fun to play with.
After dinner Katy pulled me back upstairs for more games, until Steve arrived home from work. Then I went down again. Played some computer games with Katy until her bedtime, when she became hungry and asked for some dinner(!). She ate while I talked with Steve and Colleen. Then she went to bed and I listened to Steve play some of his folk songs. Very funny.
Finally, Colleen went to bed and Steve logged in for me so I could check my mail. That done, time for retiring and sleep. Colleen says we can do the Winchester Mystery House tomorrow morning. And tomorrow arvo/evening is the weekly Wednesday Grand Central Starport Pizza Party!! Should be fun!
