Here we (Allison, her mum, Colleen, and I) are in the fabulous Circus Circus hotel/casino in wonderful, amazing, bright Las Vegas.

We are actually on "The Strip" and the flashing lights and glowing neon are simply incredible.

We left Fairfield at 02:15 and arrived here about 16:30. We were about three hours behind schedule, due to Allison's mum's car overheating and requiring towing and service in the middle of the Mojave Desert.

What fun! Allison's mum and I got to walk about a mile through 115°F (45°C) heat to the garage.

[Looking at the photos and Google Earth, I think this breakdown occurred near the Field Road overpass on Highway 15, between Barstow and Baker. We managed to get the car under the shade of the overpass. I took several photos there while we figured out what to do.]

After arriving and checking in we had the "all you can eat" $3.99 buffet dinner. Then we gambled a few quarters on the slot machines (Colleen won $1.25) and I won six stuffed rabbits for everyone on a dart throwing game in the kiddies' game section.
Then we drove up the Strip for a bit of a look at the lights and sights.

[One place we stopped at was The Mirage, which Allison was excited about because of the night time volcano show in the fountain out the front. It goes off at scheduled times, and we had to wait a bit for it. It was okay - nowhere near as cool as a real volcano.]
