Magic Mountain today! Whoah - are we ever tired!

Up at 07:00 and off. Several roller coaster rides, a fireworks/laser show and home. Phew!

Going up...
Going up the first uphill section of Colossus

[This was Six Flags Magic Mountain at Santa Clarita, just north of Los Angeles. We spent the whole day there, leaving after sunset and the fireworks show. Magic Mountain was the home of Colossus, the largest wooden roller coaster in the world.]

Atop Colossus
At the top of Colossus

[As part of this trip, I planned to gather photos to use in a lunch time talk for the Sydney University Physics Society, about the physics of roller coasters. So I was keen to take my camera on board the roller coasters and take photos during the ride. This was in the wonderful days before safety was taken seriously, and I had no comments from the staff about taking a big SLR camera onto all of the rides.]

Looking down...
The first downhill section of Colossus

[I was careful to maintain control of the camera and not drop it, by wrapping the neckstrap around my wrist several times. The main problem was managing to hold the camera steady enough to take photos while riding a roller coaster! Some shots turned out very blurry. The best ones are where the coaster cars were not moving so fast.]
