21:47

The Oasis Motel, Los Angeles. A four star dump if ever I've seen one - but a least the week's accommodation is cheap. [How much of a dump was this place? We actually saw cockroaches in the motel room. We joked that it had hot and cold running cockroaches. The towels also smelled funny. And the service was pretty bad. And the area around it seemed somewhat dodgy. After we got back to Fairfield, Allison wrote a letter to the American Automobile Association, whose accommodation guidebook had rated it some relatively positive number of stars. After I got back home to Australia and some months had passed, Allison wrote me a letter and said that they'd removed the Oasis Motel from the next edition of their guidebook!]

Here's what we did today: drove from Fairfield to LA. We left about 08:30 and arrived here about 18:30. We stopped along the way at the "Danish" town of Solvang. It was pretty, but hot. I don't think any place in Denmark has ever been that hot!

We arrived in LA and are about to crash out after a long, tiring day.

[I didn't take any photos on this day.]
