Today Allison and I drove up to Chantal's place, where we picked up her and her boyfriend Tim. We drove in his BMW up to Bodega Bay, north of San Francisco Bay.

We played on the beach for a while, but it was really windy and quite cold. [Looking at my photos and Google Maps, I believe the beach we went to was actually North Salmon Creek Beach, just north of the town of Bodega Bay.]

The water is freezing!

The ocean water was painfully cold - could not have been far past freezing!

We drove up the coast a bit further to eat a picnic lunch near another beach. Coming back we stopped at a "kite and candy" shop and bought some salt-water taffy. Allison and Chantal agreed that they'd had better.

We went back to Carl's place and had pizza for dinner. Then we played Scattergories for a while before coming home. Then we finished off seeing the video movie Worth Winning, which we'd started watching at Chantal's place before going over to Carl's in the evening.

The beach was good. Too cold for swimming by a long way. We walked along the shore and Chantal went crazy finding sand dollars. She's really nice.

I told Allison a lot about Gina today. I really miss her.

Oh - coming home from the beach we stopped at Scandia's fun place and Tim tried to show me how to hit machine-pitched softballs. I have a blood blister on my left palm from swinging that darn bat! I would have hit them all had I had a cricket bat!

I sent eight postcards today! Gina, Michael, Kim, Shaun, Cathie, D, Denise, and Christina. I also sent in my first film for developing. It has to go all the way to New Jersey! [I was shooting 35 mm Kodachrome colour slide film on my Canon T70 camera. Kodachrome film came with processing included in the purchase price. You had to send it in using the included envelope, and they mailed you back a box of processed slides. There were various addresses in different countries to send it to. Rather than take all the exposed film home and process it in Australia, I sent some to the US processing lab, since I was staying in the USA for long enough for it be returned.]
