XI 1. n. pronounced "eleven", a cricket team of eleven players, often used as part of a team name. The touring side played a warm-up match against an Invitational XI.
2. n. the eleven players who play in a cricket match, excluding the twelfth man and any other designated substitutes.

XII 1. n. pronounced "twelve", a cricket squad of twelve players, including the eleven designated players plus the twelfth man.The new player was selected for the Australian XII.
2. n. the twelve players who form a squad for a cricket match, including the twelfth man.
