05:55 New York time

Still on CO210 from LAX to Newark. Oh, the joys of a blocked sinus on an aeroplane flight! Many brownie points to the sympathetic stewardess who couldn't help with painkillers but suggested a cup of hot water... It actually worked! Much sustained agony was relieved and I made a special point to report the success of her treatment and bestow many sincere thanks.

And all because "Atmospheric pressure does the work"... I think I'll buy some codeine in Newark. Only half an hour or so away. [I wasn't aware at the time that codeine was only available with a prescription in the USA. It was an over-the-counter medicine in Australia until 2018.]

08:00 Newark

No such luck. Think I can find a chemist in here? Oh well - it's only an hour flight and I feel much better anyway. I'm quite wide awake, which is good for 08:00. Let's see how long it lasts!

Had some brekky at Au Bon Pain - yep, couldn't wait until I hit Cambridge!

Well, three flights down and only one to go. It's now 22:00 same day in Sydney. I've been travelling for 29.5 hours so far! Only two more! Elena should be up and making ready to leave for Logan. Yaaaahhh!!! I think the adrenaline is keeping me awake at this stage.

Oh, I brushed my teeth again here in Newark. First time since Honolulu. And the view from Newark Airport is now captured on film where the Honolulu view wasn't. I can see Manhattan from here in the gate lounge.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only Australian to get this far... to a fourth flight to Boston, I mean. I actually saw a woman here who I recognised from the Sydney to Honolulu flight. She's not here waiting for the Boston flight... yet!

19:30

Made it! Flight to Boston was on time and Elena met me at the airport terminal. We got the courtesy bus to the T station and hopped trains back to Harvard. We dumped my stuff in her room then went in search of lunch. Oh, I gave her a bunch of coins first, which she delighted in comparing to English and Irish coins.

We got subs at Tony's House of Pizza (formerly a grease pit at which I ate once last time I was here) and went to the Adams House dining hall where Merrill and Carl were. The food was pretty good - doubly so compared to what Merrill had half-eaten.

We chatted a bit afterwards in Merrill's room, then Elena went to a 15:00 section meeting. Merrill and I talked some more before I left to wander Harvard Square and return to Elena's room by about 17:30. She showed up soon after and I showed her the photos I'd brought. ("The drooling kitten!") She retaliated by showing me all the photos I'd sent her over the past two years! [The "drooling kitten" aside here was prompted by the fact that Merrill's room mate Shana had recently adopted an abandoned kitten and was looking after it.]

We went to dinner at the co-op dining room. Elena left for another section and I have come back here to crash and collect some sleep. Oh yeah, Merrill went rapturous at the bag of Violet Crumble I preented to her.
