23:15

Back home again! Well, Allison's parents' home!

We were off early this morning and in the Columbia State Historic Park by 08:00. This is a neat little section of the town of Columbia which has been restored (or left) to how it was in the Gold Rush days - 1850s or so.

We had breakfast in an old inn there and then wandered around looking at the old stuff until about 11:00.

Allison and I signed the visitors' book. There were folks from Bathurst, Toorak, and Warragul just before us. And when I went back for another look, the next person after "Allison, Fairfield, California USA" and "David, Fairfield, NSW Australia" was "[someone], Fairfield, VIC Australia"!

Anyway, we then drove to Oakdale, home of the Hershey Chocolate Factory. We waited about an hour in a queue for a guided tour. It was interesting, but not fantastic. Then we drove back home. [In Oakdale, I was amazed by the sight of a yellow schoolbus. I'd only seen buses like this in movies and TV shows before, and hadn't really consciously expected that they were a real life thing. I was so amazed that yellow schoolbuses are a real thing, that this was the only photo I took on this day!]

They really are yellow!!

Allison and I went to Major Video - on the way home from the Mall, where Allison had her Monterey Bay Aquarium sea otter poster mounted and we browsed the Hallmark store - and rented Back to the Future Part II, which we have just watched.

Tomorrow is preparation for LA day! And I'm tired. So it's to bed for me now.
