Busy day!

Rose at 7am and showered and packed the car as we checked out of Hobart. Drove down to the centre of town to check out the Salamanca Markets - got a free park only a minute's walk away while everyone else was paying for theirs. Saw lots of interesting stuff - bought a German bratwurst to eat and Michelle got some chocolate for presents for Anthony and her dad.

Left about 10am for Port Arthur. Drove pretty much straight through, stopping briefly at Eaglehawk Neck to see the Tessellated Pavement, Blowhole, Tasman's Arch, and Devil's Kitchen. We also stopped at the Tasmanian Devil Park where we saw bunches of cute animals.

At Port Arthur (got there about 13:45) we got on the harbour cruise which is included in the entry ticket, then spent the afternoon wandering around the site - taking lots of photos! It was really good.

Left about 5pm to go to Nubeena and check in to tonight's accommodation - quite nice after the place in Hobart! We asked the reception guy about the local pizza place and he said to go early because they close up at 6:30 if they are not busy, so we decided to go at 5:30 and the guy said it would be 20 minutes. It was 6:10 when we got our pizzas and by 6:20 they had finished making pizzas for the night!

Went back to the motel and I had a swim for a while in the heated pool which had almost no lighting. After a shower we headed back to Port Arthur for our 8:15 ghost tour. Spoooooky! It was a lot of fun.

At one point the guide took the tour group of a dozen or so people into a small underground room and closed the door, and started telling stories of the alleged ghosts and hauntings and stuff. It was pretty atmospheric. On a table in the room was a skull of a sheep or something. The guide said that one time she was doing the tour in this room, and a mouse had gotten under the skull, so at one point it had started scratching around and moving on the table. This triggered some people to start screaming, which then set everyone off, so there was lots of loud yelling until the guide could calm everyone down and open the door to let them out. When she opened the door, there was another group waiting outside, with all the visitors pale as ghosts after hearing the blood-curdling screams coming from inside. Our guide simply led our group out and said to the waiting group, "Next."

Eventually drove back to the motel and retired.
