So How Good's The Food?
|
Despite the name, Pino's is a full-on Italian restaurant with a menu covering everything from pastas to veal and beefsteak dishes, to seafood.
The blackboard specials are often slightly more specialised dishes such as osso bucco, squid ink pasta, and lobsters. The restaurant is long and
narrow inside, but spills out to several tables on the footpath out front, and is always a mouth-watering attraction to hungry diners walking past
who get a whiff of the pizza oven situated strategically by the front door and an open window.
The decor is stereotypically "Itaian restaurant" with the red checked tablecloths and faded photos of Italian vistas on the walls, which gives it a familiar and homey atmosphere. Although the tables are a bit crowded, the dim lighting makes it feel like the other diners aren't too close, and the ambience is quite good. It's always busy in here - expect a short wait if you haven't booked a table.
The food is typically Italian and all pretty good. The pizzas are excellent, with a crispy crust and tasty toppings. The steaks are good too, cooked perfectly to order and with a selection of sauces - the pepper and mushroom ones very nice. If you're into pizza at all, though, I'd recommend that.
The only drawback is it can be a bit bustly and with many orders to fill the kitchens can be a little slow, but it's worth the wait.
