Here’s an idea. Determine a particular date when you were in a public place that is often photographed. Tourist spots are good examples.
Now use Flickr’s advanced search to find photos taken on that date, and tagged with something that narrows down the location appropriately.
See if you can find a photo taken by a complete stranger, with you in it. Let me know if you succeed!
Is this based on the couple who discovered they’d been at Disneyland together at the same time as kids? This sounds a ton of fun. I don’t thinkn I’ve been in any heavily photographed spots, but if I had, I’d be trying this for sure.
To me it sounds like a recipe for spending a lot of time hunting through photos I am unlikely to care much about. Kind of like googling yourself, but before search engines were any good.
Now, if I could upload a photo of me and say “find other photos of me”, that would be cool.
Alexander: No, I hadn’t heard about that.
My girlfriend had a funny experience with something like this. We like many of the same comics, so a few months after we met we discovered that a few years earlier, when a cartoonist had had a signing, we had been standing in the same line. Okay, cool, but we didn’t think much more about it. Until years later, when I were looking through a bunch of old photos.
It turned out I had taken a photo of my girlfriend, almost two years before we actually met. I didn’t take many photos that day, and there were perhaps only a couple of people in the background on the photos I’d taken, but she was one of them.
It’s the strangest photo-related incident I’ve ever had.
