Contentment! Day spent shopping - now resting at Au Bon Pain, Harvard Square, with a pumpernickel Bruegger's bagel and large lemonade. And I found a great Calvin and Hobbes T-shirt at Fanueil Hall. Also got a Cheers coffee mug for Tim (and one for me) and a pewter elephant for Sue. Bought a few fridge magnets for the filing cabinet [at my Ph.D. student office at Sydney University] and a pair of purple shoelaces - should be fun!

What's more, I am still wide awake - I think the shock therapy treatment killed any jetlag. Managed to withdraw some money from an ATM at Faneuil (each way bet on the spelling) Hall too. [It's Faneuil Hall.] No more messing with bank stuff and passport for ID.

Elena is busy writing a paper today. Tonight is the Dudley Co-op senior dinner, to which she has invited me. Gosh, a chance to wear my good shirt already! Presuming I can find the alleged iron and board in the co-op basement.

The sun has come out. Most neat after this morning's overcast and spits of rain over in Boston. Oh, for lunch I had one of those great shepherd's pies and a mint Boston Brownie. Evile. And yummy. [During this trip, the Harvard people were using the word "evile" as a compound adjective.]

Got postcards for Sue and Ariane and gang. Have to mail them when I hit a mailbox. The depressing thing here is the number of people who wander around asking for spare change.
