At home

The alarm woke us duly at 05:00 and we packed the last of our stuff into our mostly packed bags and sealed them up for the flight. Then we went downstairs and checked out of the Westin Grande Sukhumvit, before heading down to the ground floor lobby and waiting for our transfer car to the airport. It arrived right on time, and drove us along a tollway to Bangkok Airport, a good half hour away.

We checked our luggage in and got boarding passes, then wandered around the airport for a bit looking for a place to get some breakfast. We went upstairs to a Thai Airways restaurant, where several travellers were eating various Western or Asian breakfasts. We ordered some eggs and toast and ate them under the roof painted to look like an open sky.

Then Michelle wanted to check all the shops in the airport. If you've ever been to Bangkok Airport, you know that the terminal is about five kilometres long, and we walked pretty much the whole length of it and back again to our gate. She bought a silk scarf with some of our leftover baht, and then it was on the plane bound for home.

Since it was a day flight, we stayed awake, watching three movies. Elektra, which was rubbish. Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, which was very amusing and quite fun. And Ocean's Twelve, which I declined to watch, being movied out.

We arrived home around 20:00 Sydney time, and Michelle's parents drove us home from the airport, back to our familiar surroundings, with the echoes of Thailand a happy memory.
